  2. Introduction
The basic object of the Right to Information Act is to empower the citizens, promote transparency and bring accountability in the functioning of the Government, contain corruption, and make government machinery work for the people in real sense. An informed citizen is better equipped to keep necessary vigil on the instruments of governance and make the government more accountable to the governed. The RTI Act is a big step towards that direction.

In pursuance of the RTI Act, the Directorate has designated Central Public Information Officer and Appellate Authority. The proactive disclosure under Section 4 of the Act has also been published.
